Privacy Policy

This policy describes what Cycologist collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to match what the app actually does rather than to cover every hypothetical.

What we collect

• Account details — your name, email address and phone number, and a profile photo if you add one.
• Your bikes — make, model, year, serial number and tyre size, for the bikes you choose to add.
• Service records — bookings, repair tickets, and photos attached to those tickets.
• Location — precise GPS location only while you are actively recording a ride in PEDAL. We record the route so you can see it afterwards. We do not track your location in the background at any other time.
• Photos — images you choose to attach to a ride, a repair ticket or your profile.
• Community content — group rides you organise or join, friend connections, and anything you post in the bike forum.
• Subscription status — for shops, whether the account has an active plan and the identifier Stripe gives us. We never see or store your card details. Rider Plus is currently free, so there is no rider payment data at all.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use your data for advertising, and there are no third-party ad networks in the app.
• We do not track your location when you are not recording a ride.

Who else sees it

• The bike shop you book with sees your name, contact details, the bike involved and anything you write on a service request. It cannot see your rides, your friends or your other shops.
• Other riders see your name and profile photo, plus anything you deliberately post — forum threads and replies, group rides you organise, and rides you choose to share.
• Google Firebase hosts the app's database, file storage and sign-in. Stripe processes shop subscription payments.

Your choices

• Delete your account by emailing us from the address on the account. That removes your profile, bikes, rides and community posts. In-app deletion is on the way.
• Turn off location in iOS Settings. Everything except ride recording keeps working.
• Block another rider so their posts and replies no longer appear to you.
• Request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it, by emailing the address below.

Retention

When you delete your account we remove your profile and personal content. Records of completed service work are kept by the shop that created them, because those are the shop's own business records — but they are anonymised so they no longer identify you.

Children

Cycologist is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
